New Year Brings New Things to Do in Pigeon Forge

Wondering what’s new in Pigeon Forge for 2012?  Read on to find out.
  • Dollywood launches an all-new coaster – Wild Eagle – March 24.  The innovative, $20 million attraction is the first of its design in the United States and promised spectacular thrills for riders.  It is known as a “wing coaster” as riders sit on the wings of the ride, which extend along either side of the coasters track.  The coaster is also located on Dollywood’s highest peak, creating great panoramic views of the Smokiest as you fly through the sky.  Get your Dollywood vacation package to day to test out this all new thrill!

  • WonderWorks is going to offer a whole new way to see the Smokies as well.  They have teamed up with Aerophile to create Wonders of Flight, a tethered balloon ride on a grand scale.  Wonders of Flight will feature a giant helium-filled balloon 72 feet in diameter that will rise 500 feet in the air for scenic views you’ll remember forever.

  • At the Titanic Museum Pigeon Forge, they are honoring the 100th Anniversary of the fated Titanic ship.  April 15, 2012, marks the centennial of the ship’s sinking and in an effort to pay tribute to the passengers and crew on board, the Titanic Museum is presenting a yearlong series of special events and activities.  One of which is the Rose Petal Memorial Tribute, during which rose petals from the Titanic Museum will be placed at the site of the Titanic sinking.

  • HollywoodWax Museum, home to all things Hollywood – including over 180 wax figures, is set to open this summer.  The exterior of the building will feature a giant Hollywood sign and even King Kong scaling the building, while the interior recreated classic movie scenes using detailed wax figures that are picture perfect.  The attraction will also feature Castle of Chaos and Hannah’s Maze of Mirrors.

I watched the video of the Wild Eagle and it looks amazing! I think the baloon ride is an addition that I would really enjoy. A view from up above the beautiful Smokey Mountains!
